New Support Network For Professionals Opens
Experience Counts For Jobseekers
|
OAKLAND, CA July 14, 2010, Experience Unlimited (EU), a job club formerly sponsored by the State Employment Development Department, is now called East Bay Professional Experience Network (EB PEN) and will be sponsored by the Oakland Private Industry Council at 1212 Broadway, Oakland. The PIC serves as system administrator for the Oakland Workforce Investment Board.
EB PEN is a member-supported volunteer organization that meets weekly to encourage and support job seekers to become successfully employed or find the next job opportunity.
The Network requires new members to attend two general meetings and four hours of volunteer service, once a month. The orientations for new members are held alternate Thursdays from 1:30pm until 3:00 pm with two day workshops the following week.
|
EP PEN offers training in self-marketing, career management and job searching. Members form "Success Teams" for motivation, encouragement and self-evaluation of job search skills. Professional contacts are developed through networking mixers, social networking (on-line) and community events such as job fairs and resume critique sessions.
|
Lillian Scott, President of EB PEN, is excited about the job club reaching another level of growth and development, “the mission of our organization has always been to help people find opportunities and jobs. Now that we are in downtown Oakland, we can offer a different level of service to our members: re-vamped workshops on career transitions, rejection-proof resumes, successful interviewing, and salary negotiation techniques. We stand ready to add real value for our members and the community”.
For more information contact EB PEN through their website at eastbaypen.org or email at contact@eastbaypen.org. The phone number is 510.768.4497.
